Daily deal - Nintendo DS Lite - Pink ribbon edition for $99.95

My daily deal for today is for the Nintendo DS Lite (Limited Edition Pink Ribbon edition). This portable gaming console usually retails for $129, but if you select the limited edition version at Amazon.com, you can pick one up for just $99.95.

I've carried a Nintendo DS Lite for for quite some time when I travel, and it is the perfect way to kill a couple of hours in the air (or on the ground if you are unlucky). I've always found that the battery life of the DS Lite is more than enough for several hours of non stop gaming, and the standard headphone jack means you can plug in your (noise canceling) headphones and play in peace and quiet.

Of course, the unit does not come with any games, so expect to invest some more to pick up games. When you click the link to Amazon, be sure to select the "Limited Edition Pink Ribbon" version, or you will not see the low price.

Daily deal - 16GB iPod Touch (1st gen) for $199

In the market for an iPod? Then my daily deal for today might be the best way to prevent having to stand in line at your local superstore.

This 16GB iPod Touch is the "previous generation", but with the exception of a few minor cosmetic changes, not much was updated between this one and the new one.

The current generation 16GB iPod touch still retails for $278, but you can pick up this first generation version for a mere $199!

Of course, there is one small thing I need to point out; this unit ships with the previous version of the iPod software, and to take advantage of all the newest features, you'll have to pay Apple an additional $9.95. Even after this fee, you are still saving quite a lot of money by going with a slightly older model.

The 16GB iPod touch ships for free, and comes with a USB cable, headphones and a dock insert.

Welcome to Black Friday 2008! You either love it, or you hate it. Those that love it, will be camping outside their local stores on Thursday afternoon, those that hate it will be sitting at home, watching the news on TV and laughing at those camped outside their local store.

Either way, Black Friday is traditionally when the silly season of deals starts. It is when you can forget all about the malaise in the world, and get back to being the spend-happy consumer all the retailers want you to be.

I've made you a handy list of products that I consider to be substantially cheaper than usual days, but as always, it pays to research! Just because 350 other people are fighting over that GPS unit, does not make it a bargain. People do stupid things, and being tricked into thinking something is cheap is one of them!
